teacher, writer, linguist
Lynda Boudreault
Lynda Boudreault, Ph.D. is a writer, linguist, and teacher. Her first love is languages, and this passion is what drove her to pursue a Ph.D. in linguistics. It's also inextricably entwined with her writing and teaching. As a teacher, Lynda is always eager to encourage intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. She has worked with children and adults on three continents. She's taught English and Spanish in traditional settings, and she's worked on learning and teaching an endangered language spoken in Peru as part of a language revitalization project. In addition to her language related work, Lynda has taught the magic of science and math through gardening skills and beekeeping to elementary school children at the Becker Green Classroom in Austin, Texas. She is currently a substitute teacher with Austin Independent School District. As a writer, Lynda's experience spans an array of fields, from print media to not-for-profit grant writing. These days, she's engaged in different writing organizations. As a linguist, her primary research interest was language documentation, which has taken her to the Northern Peruvian Amazon as well as the Gulf Coast of Veracruz and the highlands of Chiapas in Mexico. She is fascinated by the structures of grammar, meaning, discourse, and narrative from a cross-linguistic perspective. These days, Lynda continues to apply her interrelated skills in community endeavors, writing projects, and teaching.
